Corruption in the City of Laval: the Disciplinary Council of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec fines Guy Jobin $10,000 and strikes him off the roll for six months

MONTREAL, Dec. 07, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Disciplinary Council of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec rendered its decision on guilt and sanction in the case of Guy Jobin, who has been ordered to pay a total of $10,000 in fines and to be struck off the OIQ’s roll for a period of six months.

Mr. Jobin was found guilty of criminal offences in relation to acts of corruption committed in the municipal affairs of the City of Laval. The disciplinary complaint filed by the OIQ's Office of the Syndic and the decision rendered by the Disciplinary Council concern acts committed between 2005 and 2010, while Mr. Jobin was a partner at Jobin, Courtemanche Inc., and at Equiluqs starting in 2007.

The full version of the Disciplinary Council’s decision, including the summary of charges, is available on the OIQ’s Web site. In its decision, the Disciplinary Council also ordered Mr. Jobin to pay all costs in connection with the proceedings.

As a reminder, the sanctions imposed by the Disciplinary Council are meant to protect the public by dissuading professionals from repeating offences and by setting an example for other members of the profession.
