Troops neutralise suspected bandit, armed robber in Plateau
Troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) have neutralised a suspected bandit and armed robber in Wase and Bokkos Local Government Areas (LGA) of Plateau.
Maj. Samson Zhakom, the Media Officer of OPSH, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Jos.
Zhakom said that the two suspected criminals were brought down by troops following an operation it conducted in the two locations on March 24.
“The suspected bandit was eliminated following intense clearance operations conducted by troops at Kampani Zurak in Wase LGA.
“He was a member of a banditry syndicate operating in Wase general area and Taraba State before he was neutralised.
“On the same day, we received a distress call about an ongoing armed robbery incident along Bokkos – Richa road.
“Troops mobilised to the area, made contact and overwhelmed the criminals with superior firepower.
“One of the armed robbers was neutralised, while others fled with various degrees of injuries,” he said.
The media officer said that one AK-47 rifle was recovered from the scene of the incident, adding that a follow-up operation was ongoing to arrest other members of the gang who are at large.
