Quang Binh (VNA) - The Vietnam Border Guard High Command, in coordination with its Lao counterpart, organised a seminar and an exchange programme for their young officers in Dong Hoi city, Vietnam's central province of Quang Binh, on March 21.

Colonel Nguyen Thanh Hai, Deputy Political Commissar of the Vietnam Border Guard High Command, emphasised that young officers from both countries play a key role in preserving and fostering the traditional friendship and special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.

The event reflects the strong trust and support of both countries’ leadership for their young officers, providing them with opportunities to interact, exchange experiences, and strengthen historical ties between the two forces.

Colonel Hai expressed confidence that young border guard officers will continue to be at the forefront of their duties with ambition, innovation, and a strong sense of international solidarity, further deepening the Vietnam-Laos relationship in a meaningful and effective manner.

During the seminar, young officers from both sides highlighted the progress made in their cooperation. They have actively shared intelligence on political security and social order along the border while ensuring serious implementation of the Vietnam-Laos agreement on land border and border gate management regulations.

The two border guard forces have worked closely to maintain security and order in border areas, strengthen crime prevention efforts, and reinforce their shared commitment to building a border of peace, friendship, and development.

As part of the exchange programme, from March 20-21, legal education sessions were held for local border residents, and 40 scholarships were awarded to disadvantaged students in the border areas of Dan Hoa commune, Minh Hoa district, Quang Binh province.

Besides, the officers participated in volleyball and badminton matches at Quang Binh University’s sports centre and planted friendship trees at the training and mobility battalion of the Quang Binh Border Guard.

From March 22-24, Vietnamese and Lao young border guard officers will visit the tomb of General Vo Nguyen Giap and explore cultural and historical sites in the province./.
