Mel B's former nanny Lorraine Gilles has filed for divorce from her husband of just 17 months amid the strain of her ongoing court battle with the Spice Girl, DailyMail.com can reveal.

Gilles' relationship with tech entrepreneur Michael Bleau was left in tatters after the German blonde became embroiled in the nasty divorce battle between Mel B and Stephen Belafonte as well as her own defamation case against the singer.

Allegations claiming Gilles enjoyed threesome sex with Mel and Belafonte at their Hollywood home, fell pregnant with Belafonte's baby and that the former nanny even had a seven-year lesbian affair with Mel while she worked for the celebrity couple, piled pressure on her marriage to Bleau.

And despite months of couple's counseling the pair, who married in August 2016, were unable to mend their relationship and decided to split.

Gilles, 27, lodged the divorce papers with a court in downtown Los Angeles on Thursday morning.

Bleau, 33, confirmed the divorce in an exclusive interview outside his attorney's office in Encino, California.

He and Gilles, wearing a white sweatshirt and pale pink leggings and sporting her new close cropped haircut, had apparently both been to see the lawyer to sign paperwork ahead of the divorce.

Bleau, dressed in a white shirt and grey suit jacket, said outside: 'It's true we are divorcing.

'Here it is, we were less than six months into our marriage and we got hit with this series of insane dramatic events that were played pout largely in the public eye.

'We tried to work on it, we went to couple's therapy for a couple of months but there was too much going on, too much media scrutiny. We couldn't take the dog to the park without getting chased down by paparazzi.

'Unfortunately the romance died and we thought it's better to part in a friendly manner.'

Bleau said they would 'continue to support each other' but splitting would be the 'best way'.

In a statement given to DailyMail.com later, Bleau said their marriage had been 'tested to the limit' in the past 12 months.

'The pressure on our relationship and the intense media scrutiny has been too much to bare and unfortunately our romance didn't survive,' he said.

He added: 'As such, we have decided to part now on friendly terms, and will continue to love and support each other in our future endeavors.'

But it was not until Mel's father lost his five-year battle with cancer in March last year that the 42-year-old America's Got Talent judge filed for divorce from Belafonte and the bizarre domestic set up of threesomes with the nanny came to light.

In May that year, Mel won a five-year temporary restraining order against Gilles.

She alleged that her former husband Belafonte impregnated Gilles during a sordid affair and paid her $241,000 to have an abortion and that the former employee was harassing and annoying her in collusion with her ex.

The allegations hit Gilles relationship with Bleau hard.

She was forced to deny the affair and said she fell pregnant by another man.

A month earlier Mel had filed a similar temporary restraining order against Belafonte claiming he beat and abused her during their ten year marriage.

The judge handling the case merged both Belafonte and Gilles' restraining orders which were dealt with in long, protracted legal proceedings.

In November Gilles and Belafonte's orders were removed in court after the celebrity couple came to their own private settlement just days before the domestic violence trial was set to begin.

Gilles has claimed in legal docs that Mel 'seduced a naive and a curious 18-year-old foreign exchange student … with alcohol, fame, and casual sex'.

In her defamation suit she claims Mel has made her out to be 'a homewrecker, prostitute, and extortionist'.

She said, 'Belafonte was not present during most of the sexual encounters' and that when she and Belafonte did have sex, it would be filmed by Mel.

Gilles did, however, say she willingly took part in threesomes with Mel - real name Melanie Brown - and Belafonte.

Her court papers claimed: 'At no point did Gilles and Belafonte engage in any sexual acts without Brown's knowledge or participation and at no point did Gilles and Belafonte represent to Brown that Gilles was pregnant with Belafonte's child.'

The defamation case is still pending.

Gilles is seeking unspecified damages and is suing for libel, invasion of privacy, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

In December friends of Gilles claimed the ex-nanny has been driven to the brink of suicide since the bitter and very public divorce battle erupted.

The friends revealed that she has had therapy to cope with the online abuse she received amid claims of threesomes with the singer.

They said being at the center of the messy Hollywood divorce had left her 'devastated'.

A close friend told DailyMail.com: 'Lorraine is the victim of a bullying by a very powerful celebrity.

'She has had her life ruined and been used in Mel B's divorce. Deeply personal matters have been made public about Lorraine that should have remained private. '

'I know she contemplated suicide when she was so depressed about everything she has been through this year and it has been the lowest point in her life.'
