Japan's top FX diplomat, Asakawa, expected to be reappointed-Yomiuri

TOKYO, July 13 (Reuters) - Japan's government has decided to reappoint Masatsugu Asakawa as the top currency diplomat, Yomiuri newspaper reported on Friday.

Finance Minister Taro Aso holds a regular news briefing on Friday morning and may officially announce the appointment.

Asakawa became vice finance minister for international affairs at the finance ministry, or Japan's top financial diplomat, in 2015.

Senior posts at the ministry are reviewed annually. Yomiuri said it was rare for a government official to be kept in a post for that long.

The government also plans to promote Shigeaki Okamoto, currently serving as director-general of the ministry's budget bureau, to administrative vice minister, the paper said. (Reporting by Kaori Kaneko Editing by Eric Meijer)
